ASSOCIATES PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM
LABORATORY BIOCHEMISTRY /METASTASIS SIGNALING LAB, DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF PATRAS
The study is conducted in the Department of Biology of the University of Patras in the Laboratory of Biochemistry. The department is equipped with every necessary infrastructure needed for the development of the methods referred to the project. It has fluorescence and confocal microscopes, VyCAP platform, Iset platform, centrifuges, cell culture equipment, etc. The principal investigator and coordinator of the project Dr. Kallergi has over 15 years of experience in the field of liquid biopsy and particularly in the detection and characterization of CTCs. Her work has been published in prestigious scientific journals (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=Kallergi+G).
The interests of Pr. Kallergi’s research team at the University of Patras focus on detecting and targeting metastatic dissemination, through liquid biopsy, in patients with breast, prostate and lung cancer. CTCs very often have a different phenotype from the primary tumor and therefore treating patients based only on the characteristics of the primary tumor does not prevent the spread of cancer cells. This project is based on a specific research work published by Pr. Kallergi’s team in BCR and Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology. These results have already been presented in international conferences (Kallergi et al. 2018; Kallergi et al. 2019; Kallergi et al. 2020).

P. ZAFEIROPOULOS SA
The company P. ZAFEIROPOULOS SA was founded in 1991. The purpose of the company is marketing of diagnostic reagents, medical and scientific devices, both in Greece and in other European countries. In addition, the company has established its own production of in vitro diagnostic reagents and has an advanced R&D laboratory at its facilities in Koropi. The company’s strategic goal is mainly to address the domestic market, but in the last three years, a significant effort for the company is to expand in EU countries.
It has a well-equipped R&D laboratory, 4 rooms, which has been recognized as “Laboratory of Excellence by Stanford University Professor Bruce Paterson on the application of the “mRNAFlow FISH” technique. The laboratory is equipped with: Flow cytometer of 10 colors and 2 physical parameters, Real Time PCR, automated ELISA platform, specialized micro-array platforms and biochemical analyzers. It has ISO 9001: 2016, ISO 13485. Finally, it has significant experience from similar projects.
LABORATORY OF ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY, DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY, NKUA
The Laboratory of Analytical Chemistry (ACTC Lab) is located in the Department of Chemistry at the School of Sciences of EKPA. The Laboratory is employed with experienced scientific staff. Specifically, the Laboratory currently employs a total of 9 people, as researchers, collaborating researchers, and PhD candidates. A total of 40 Master theses and 11 doctoral dissertations have been conducted in the laboratory, most of them on topics related to liquid biopsy. The ACTC lab has established itself internationally in the field of liquid biopsy, through numerous publications related to liquid biopsy in international journals and research programs. A total of 105 papers have been published in international journals (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=lianidou). The laboratory is fully equipped with a large number of machines RealTimePCR, CellSearch, Nanodrop etc.
